The layer that does the most work
Tops and tees, linen shirts, blouses, knit tops, tanks and the plain tee you end up buying in three colours. This is the largest category we carry for women, because it is the one that turns over fastest in a real wardrobe.
How to think about it
A tee and a tank are the base. Buy them in the colours you actually wear and replace them when they go out of shape rather than keeping them as house clothes.
A linen or cotton shirt is the layer that makes an outfit look deliberate. Worn open over a tank in summer, buttoned and tucked when you need to look tidier.
A blouse or a drapey top is what you reach for when jeans and a tee is not enough. Our Tilly, Julia and Lucy tops sit here, cut with enough drape to wear out and enough structure to tuck.
The labels

Fabric
Cotton jersey is the workhorse and washes indefinitely. Linen breathes best in summer and creases, which is how you know it is linen. Viscose and modal drape closest to the body and feel cool against the skin. Fine merino wears year round and does not hold smell, which is why it is worth the extra on a travel top.
